Nineteen years ago, this week, I went on a first date that would eventually change my life. A year later we were engaged … nine months after that we said, “I do” and now all those years (and three kids later!), I’m more in love with that man than I ever thought possible.
September 14th is a day we celebrate because it’s the day we decided to give love a try.
I’m so thankful for that man, who persisted in those first few weeks trying to get a very shy, insecure girl to come out of her shell and talk to him.
I eventually did and have felt safe with him ever since.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever… [1 Corinthians 13:4-8a]
