For whatever reason, I am drawn to taking pictures of paths. I’m not exactly sure what it is that I like about paths except maybe that it implies that a journey is either in process or is about to begin and I’m a firm believer that “life is a journey not a destination” (Ralph Waldo Emerson).
Proverbs 3:5-6 … such a familiar verse with such insightful truths. I had to come to a place of trust with the Lord recently in regards to my kids going back to school. I’ve shared a little of how apprehensive I get when I think about them being out in the world of public school. And because I’m a worrier by nature, I can tend to get very focused on the bad things that might happen while they’re away from me. A few weeks ago I was downright depressed about sending them. But during one restless night, I felt God gently reminding me that he would take care of them. That he has a plan for their lives that is better than anything I could orchestrate. And so I said, “I trust you.”
Trusting God doesn’t always mean he is going to make everything in life easy. I know that there will be times when we’re all – my kids included – going to face situations that are not fun, not easy and not to our liking. But it’s in those moments, when it’s imperative that we trust him with our whole hearts because he will show us the right path to take.
I’ve tried, many times, to follow my own path and it never works. Thankfully, though, there’s always a path that leads from the path I’ve chosen to the one God wants me to take. And he’s always more than willing to hold my hand as I make the journey back to where I belong.
This is a beautiful post. I still struggle with trusting God which doesn't even make sense. I, of all people, should know I can trust God after the way he brought me and my boys through a tragedy and into a happy life. Your path photos are lovely. I would love to take a walk there.
ReplyDeleteTrust is a tough thing...and you're right, it's not always easy. Great post.
ReplyDeleteLoved the quote of Ralph & your expression of it! Beautiful post!=)
ReplyDeleteTrusting in God is the greatest expression of our love for Him. It is the toughest for our flesh and yet the most rewarding. I love every single shot and the verse is my staple when life happens. Which is daily around here!
ReplyDeleteHugs! Blessings for our journey!
I hope your kids have a great year at school!
