I’ve been sick and in bed pretty much all day today. It was such a blessing to be able to rest and hopefully allow my body to heal. I did get up for awhile this afternoon and found these photos that I took earlier in the week. They were so much fun to edit and the creative process really did my heart good. I’m just in love with soft pink hues! They say sweetness to me.

Fall is definitely in full swing around here. We’ve pulled out long pants, sweaters, and jackets, we’ve been shopping to replace clothes that fit last year but are too small now, we’ve had our first fire in the living room fireplace, and we’ve watched the steady changing of the leaves.
Joel and I were recently talking about how we hoped our Burning Bushes in front of the house would be pretty this year, so I was excited to see that they were, in fact, in the midst of changing colors this week.
I’ve seen this template used several times on various other photo blogs and couldn’t wait to try my hand at it. It love the fact that you can customize the color blocks simply by using the eyedropper tool to click on different colors in the picture. I think the overall effect makes a nice presentation.

Today I thought I’d share this cute picture of Katelyn and two of her cousins – if for no other reason than that I know it will make Grandpa and Grandma happy!
My kids are blessed to have lots of cousins so when family gets together there are always lots of playmates! On this particular evening, we had dinner with Joel’s brother and sister-in-law and then we all took a walk together. The kids were on the go-go-go throughout the entire walk … in fact, their version of the walk could better be described as a run … or skip … or hop! Perhaps that’s just one of the reasons why I like this picture so much – that they actually stopped for a brief moment so I could capture this sweet moment.
It’s always a little sad to say goodbye to the carefree days of summer, but there are so many things to look forward to when thinking about the arrival of fall!
…fires in the fireplace … football … apple cider … warm, cozy sweaters … bonfires … pumpkins … apple picking … falling leaves …
This is only just the beginning of the falling leaves at our house! I got low to the ground to capture this shot of the leaves on our driveway. In a few weeks, there will be plenty more where these came from!

Today I thought I’d share a picture that just makes me smile … a picture that captures one of my favorite moments of the day – seeing my two younger kiddos walking up the driveway after getting off the bus at the end of their school day. It warms my heart to have all my little chicks back in the nest for the evening and I love to hear the stories they bring home from their day at school.
Once they’ve arrived, we usually dive right into homework or piano practice or on the occasional night it’s a soccer game or dance classes. Whatever is on the agenda for the evening, it’s just better when we’re all together!
I captured these a few weeks ago in my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s back yard. Aren’t they stunning? I tried to look at them from many different perspectives and am pleased with the varying shots I was able to get. I kept my editing simple and clean so as not to stray from their already amazing natural beauty. Praise God for his creations!

If I want to take any pictures this week, I will have to get re-acquainted with my point and shoot camera. I got a new one last year, but I hardly ever use it. But with my DSLR on loan to my parents while they’re on vacation, I’m forced to become friends with my little Canon Powershot. No fancy lenses, no shooting in RAW or manual mode, no macro photography … just me, my eye, some creative composing, lots of natural light, colorful and bright subjects (like the flowers below) and my little point and shoot.
I admit, I feel a little lost!
It’s okay though. Doing without fosters a sense of gratitude and it’s always good to be reminded of how thankful I should be for what I have!
