Peonies make good subjects

Every spring I admire my mom’s peony bushes.  I love their large, full, pink blooms.  They remind me of my Grandma.  Each spring I think I’m going to plant some in my own yard and each spring time gets away from me and I don’t plant any.  This year, however, my mom found them at Meijer for $12.99 a pot!  I was thrilled!  I bought and planted four pots and am already enjoying beautiful flowers.

I played with a lot of different looks here.  Some I textured, some I didn’t.  Some I just gave a clean edit to and on others I played with actions.  On some I took a more bold editing approach and on others I wanted to stay with a soft approach.  Part of the fun of taking pictures and editing them is being able to play with different looks.  I always save the original, though, in case I want to go back and try something different with it later.

I’ve looked at these multiple times and have tried to figure out which one is my favorite.  I’m thinking maybe the first and the last.  I tried a different perspective on the first one – having the flower hanging upside down – and it’s really growing on me.  As for the last, I just like the softness of it.

What do y’all think?

All shots were taken with my Canon 100mm 2.8L macro lens, which I love, love, love!  I’m so thankful that it’s finally flower season!
